Ever since the moment Josh picked up his first pair of sticks at the age of 3, it was clear that drumming would be a passion for life.
He continued to play and practice throughout his childhood into his teen years where he started to form bands and write and record songs with the goal of one day turning his passion into a profession.
In 2007, Josh entered and won two national Drumming competitions, Beat 2007 and Mapex Drummer of Tomorrow. After the success in the competitions, Mapex entered Josh in for the 18-25 category of the European Drummer of Tomorrow held in Frankfurt despite only being 16.
This lead to some opportunities to break into the drumming scene by playing various clinics and drum shows. In 2008, Josh performed at Drummerlive 08 on the main stage with some of the worlds best drummers such as Roy Mayorga, Gavin Harrison, Chad Smith and Jason Bonham.
Josh has been touring and in the studio with many artists and bands, including Italian pop band For All My Valentines, singer-songwriter Charlee Drew and UK Ska band Fandangle. Through early 2011 Josh worked with the ground breaking UK rapper, Skepta. From the Radio 1 Live Lounge at Maida Vale in Jan 2011, they dropped into the top 20 album chart with ‘Doin it Again’ and then embarked on a sold out UK tour March the same year. The guys have shared stages with UK upstarts Chipmunk, Dappy from NDubz, Giggs and Boy Better Know. Josh topped off the summer performing to an audience of thousands with Skepta on a sunny Saturday at Glastonbury.
Autumn 2011 was spent working with One Direction as they released their first album and then went on to take the world by storm. Sell out tours of the UK, US and Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand followed through 2012 as well as appearances on The Today Show, Ellen, Saturday Night Live, the Kids Choice Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Teen Awards, iTunes Festival, BBC’s Children in Need, Jingle Bell Ball US and UK and on XFactor shows in Europe, UK and the US. 2012 ended with a sell out show in December at the most prestigious venue of all – Madison Square Gardens, New York.
In spite of a hectic tour schedule Josh managed to squeeze in a performance at the 2012 London Drum Show, something he finds more nerve wracking than playing in the world’s biggest venues!
2013 sees Josh preparing for another sold-out world tour with One Direction, kicking off in the UK in February. Josh also continues to write his own material with a view to future releases when time allows… watch this space!
